About the event
Horses often resist or show anxiety when responding to the bit, usually due to a misunderstanding of strong and painful pressure in their mouths. This can lead to tension during exercises under saddle, making it difficult to identify the cause. Bit work in hand helps horses regain trust in the rider’s hand and understand the meaning of different pressures. It also aids riders in developing the correct feel, attitude, and connection with the horse through the bit.
Bit work in hand is a powerful tool that prepares the horse for under-saddle work by teaching essential movements and positions. In both walk and trot, you can practice a variety of exercises such as straight flexion, counter-bend, shoulder-in, travers, half-pass, and even collection.
